06 FebMumbai, and the Pink City - STB's India Roadshows

With everyone just about settled back into work after a busy festive season, it was time to pack our bags again, this time to join the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) for their roadshows in Mumbai and Jaipur, India. With India representing one of Mega Adventure’s top 5 markets for our customers, it was an easy invitation to accept. This opportunity allowed us to showcase what we have to offer to a vast array of travel agents and tour operators who bring people from India to Singapore.

The first stop was Mumbai, where we met up with our colleagues from various attractions and hotels in Singapore, as well as the STB delegation who were hosting us. A delightful welcome dinner was put on, before an early night was taken at the lovely Four Seasons hotel where the roadshow was to take place the next day. The aim of the roadshow was to interact with the tour operators who focus on helping people organise their overseas trips from India: either for holidays, or for MICE events (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions).

Through our various team building and bonding programs, we cater to a large number of corporate groups, schools groups, and family or incentive days. This has predominantly been for the Singapore domestic market to date, however the past year has seen a noticeable increase in international MICE travel. This was a particular area of focus for our team, to try to increase this part of business, alongside our individual travellers. With over 30 different stakeholders from Singapore showcasing their offerings, the +200 strong crowd of travel agents had plenty to keep them busy. As this was only Mega Adventure’s second appearance at the Mumbai Roadshow, there was a lot of interest in the zipline and other attractions at the park that the agents were previously unaware of.

After the successful completion of the Mumbai leg of the journey, we heading to Jaipur with our friends from some of the other attractions on Sentosa and the rest of Singapore. A significantly smaller city than Mumbai, in the state of Rajasthan, and with an extra day to spend there, there was a lot more exploring that we were able to do. This was the only the second time that STB had hosted a roadshow in Jaipur, and the reason for choosing this city was that Scoot have recently started operating direct flights from Jaipur to Singapore. Previously all flights were via either New Delhi or Mumbai.

Understandably, this roadshow was smaller than the one in Mumbai, but the interest from the agents was undeniable. With the ever increasing spending power in the city, came the thirst for travel. Singapore is already very high up on the wish list of places to visit. As a result, the agents were keen to learn all they could about the various attractions in Singapore. We were more than happy to oblige, showcasing the MegaZip, our 450m flying fox, alongside our other aerial attractions, team building programs, and newly developed schools program.

After another successful roadshow, we had a full day to explore the “Land of Kings” (Rajasthan) and the “Pink City” (Jaipur). Naturally this involved numerous forts, palaces, and other amazing sights. I’ll let the photos to do the talking, and urge you to add Jaipur to your next India trip itinerary!

A hugely productive trip for Mega Adventure, and a privilege to visit India for the first time. I'll be back for sure!
